IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship outfit Team Korthoff Motorsports has undergone a name change to Korthoff Preston Motorsports ahead of this weekend’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The team that was known as Team Korthoff Motorsports since 2022 will continue to field a single Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in the GTD category.
It marks the third name change for the team, which was called Gilbert Korthoff Motorsports when it made its WeatherTech Championship debut in 2021 and carried that name until Henry Gilbert retired from professional racing team ownership last year.
The updated name reflects the contributions of team manager Walter Preston, who has worked in the motorsports industry for over five decades.
Before joining the Herb Korthoff-led squad, Preston worked at JDC-Miller Motorsports in a tenure that saw the Minnesota-based operation win the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in 2021.
The No. 32 car will be piloted at Indianapolis by the unchanged driver pairing of Mike Skeen and Mercedes-AMG factory driver Mikael Grenier.
Skeen and Grenier took two class podiums so far this season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America.
The pairing sits sixth in the GTD standings with two rounds remaining, 755 points behind the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers.
