Norman Scores First Career Poles in Qualifying Sweep

Ryan Norman has claimed a double pole for this weekend’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races at Road America.

Norman took his No. 84 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 to a fast lap of 2:04.332 to edge out the No. 30 ANSA Motorsports entry of Nico Jamin by 0.324 seconds in Q1.

He backed it up with a 2:04.975 lap in a shortened Q2 session due to an accident from the No. 96 TR3 Racing Lamborghini of Todd Coleman, to start both 50-minute races from the top positions.

It marked Norman’s first career Super Trofeo poles in the car the former open-wheel rising star is racing solo.

Pro class points leader Kyle Marcelli, who along with Danny Formal have been undefeated in wins so far this season, will start third in Race 1, followed by Friday’s pace-setting No. 88 TR3 Racing Lamborghini of Giano Taurino in fourth.

Formal, meanwhile, qualified second for Race 2 on Sunday.

Andy Lee took the No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini to pole honors in Pro-Am for Race 1, with Nick Persing set to start Race 2 from pole in the class.

Glenn McGee earned the top qualifying spot in Am in his No. 69 Precision Performance Motorsports entry in Q1, while Valkyrie Velocity’s Dominic Starkweather put in a 2:06.825 lap in Q2 to claim Am class honors for Race 2 with the third quickest time in the session.

The LB Cup pole for Race 1 went to Fred Roberts, in a late-session improvement, with Mark Wilgus set to start from pole on Sunday in his No. 50 Forte Racing by US RaceTronics entry.

Race 1 gets underway at 3:50 p.m. CDT, with Race 2 on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Both races will be streamed live on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
