In only his second Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America start, Cedric Sbirrazzuoli took the checkered flag to win Round 2 to cap off an exciting weekend of racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Sbirrazzuoli earned the top honor in his No. 07 Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo fielded by STR and representing Lamborghini Dallas with a 0.436 victory over Round 1 winner Richard Antinucci in the No. 50 O’Gara Motorsport entry representing Lamborghini Beverly Hills. Sbirrazzuoli was also the top Pro-Am finisher.

2014 Driver Champion Kevin Conway and co-driver Enrique Bernoldi completed the overall Huracán podium, finishing third in the Lamborghini Paramus entry fielded by Prestige Performance.

“First of all it was my dream to race in Laguna so leaving with a second and first place overall and two wins in Pro-Am, for me, is great,” Sbirrazzuoli said. “Yesterday I didn’t know the car, the track or the team, but in the end everything went right and we won.”

Joe Courtney and Aaron Povoledo finished fourth overall and second in the Huracán Pro-Am division in the No. 77 Musante-Courtney Racing entry representing Lamborghini Miami.

O’Gara Motorsport driver Ryan Ockey rounded out the top five, and was the first Huracán Amateur finisher in the No. 89 Lamborghini Vancouver entry.

Sbirrazzuoli picked up a position on the first lap to sit in second after starting third. He maintained his position until the mandatory pitstop window opened. After Antinucci received a drive thru penalty for a shortened stop, Sbirrazzuoli took the lead and never looked back.

Sbirrazuoli had over a seven-second lead with 12 minutes remaining. Antinucci, sitting in fourth, overtook Bernoldi and Corey Lewis in a single pass with 10:34 to go. He continued to chip away at Sbirrazuoli’s lead, but the young driver from Monaco was able to hold him off to get his first win of the season.

The No. 14 Lamborghini Beverly Hills entry driven by Brian Wong and Damon Ockey finished second in the Pro-Am class.

The father-son duo of Jim and Josh Norman followed up a first place Huracán Amateur class win yesterday with a second place finish in Race 2 in the No. 71 BAD Lambo Racing (Park Place) entry representing Lamborghini Palm Beach. They were followed by series rookie John DiFiore in the No. 10 Prestige Performance Huracán representing Lamborghini Paramus.

Thomas Pichler won the overall Gallardo class in the No. 63 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo fielded by STR and representing Lamborghini Dallas.

Mitchum Motorsports teammates Dylan Murcott and Brandon Gdovic finished second and third respectively. Gdovic started last and was able to finish third overall and first in the Gallardo Amateur class in the No. 46 Mitchum Motorsports entry representing Lamborghini Palm Beach.

Bryan Hixon was the second Gallardo Amateur finisher in the No. 23 representing Lamborghini Chicago, followed by Joe Chan and Paul Taylor in the No. 15 Paragon Competition Gallardo representing Lamborghini Toronto.

The next Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America event will be June 24-26 at Watkins Glen International for Rounds 3 and 4.

The weekend at Laguna Seca is a part of the worldwide race action for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship, which continues to reach new levels of success at every round in Europe, North America and Asia.

The Asian Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship will start June 20-21 at Fuji Speedway in Oyama, Japan. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe last competed April 11-12 at Monza in Italy, with the next event May 22-24 at Silverstone Circuit.

Lamborghini and Blancpain provided world-class hospitality this weekend for clients and guests of Lamborghini dealers. Guests also participated in the IMSA Hot Lap Experience, high-speed rides around the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in a Lamborghini.

The new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 also was on display at Lamborghini and Blancpain Village at the circuit throughout the weekend. The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 competes in the Blancpain Endurance Championship.
