Devin Anderson edged out Cole Loftsgard to claim his first career Mustang Challenge North America pole for tomorrow’s race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The TechSport Racing driver reeled off a chart-topping 1:32.406 in his No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R to narrowly beat Loftsgard, in the points-leading No. 42 Round 3 Racing entry, by a mere 0.008 seconds.

Loftsgard held provisional pole at the time of the session’s one-and-only red flag, when Nick Smither went off course in Turn 10, resulting in an early stoppage.

However, lap times significantly improved once the session resumed, which saw Sandy Satullo qualify third as best of the Wheelhouse Motorsports entries.

Wheelhouse teammates Will Lucas and Michael Tosi completed the overall top-five.

Chris Clarke bounced back from an incident in opening practice to qualify on pole in Dark Horse Legends, thanks to a 1:35.265 lap time by the Paley Motorsport by AAG driver.

Clarke was just 0.077 seconds quicker than second-placed Tom Tait, of Wheelhouse.

It came despite Clarke’s fastest time having been deleted due to bringing out a red flag in Practice 1.

The first Mustang Challenge race of the weekend takes the green flag Saturday at 8:50 a.m. PST (11:50 a.m. EST) with live coverage on Peacock as well as IMSA and Ford Racing’s YouTube channels.
