JDX Racing has confirmed the signing of Elias De La Torre IV, who will drive the team’s No. 4 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in this year’s Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America.

The 17-year-old Floridian, who got his start in sim racing, competed in Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama last year, driving a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, highlighted by a pole and race win in his first professional race at Road America.

De La Torre IV picked up an additional win at Circuit of The Americas later that year.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me to become part of the JDX Racing family,” he said. “Following their championship finish in the 2022 Season I was able to test with the team and I’m truly appreciative of their faith in me and my abilities.

“JDX Racing has a reputation for being an excellent organization for developing young drivers and helping them build a foundation to be truly great drivers. I’m looking forward to this step-up in pace and challenge of racing against other world-class drivers.

“Being able to develop within the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid in North America presents me with the potential for some amazing future opportunities. I’m looking forward to working with the championship caliber team in JDX Racing to help me produce the best possible results and extract all the expertise so I can display my race craft and talent on a national stage.”

The Denver area-based team won the Pro class championship last year with Parker Thompson, who has since moved on to competing in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races with Vasser Sullivan.

“I first met Elias in the summer of 2022 when he swept into the Porsche Sprint Challenge Series with his Cayman GT4 and was winning races right away,” said JDX managing partner Jeremy Dale. “It was an impressive debut, to say the least.

“We followed up with a test at Sebring in a Porsche 992 Carrera Cup car and he impressed the entire team with his pace, feedback, focus, and his intellect. He’s young, talented, and hungry.

“We quickly decided he would be a great fit for our 2023 Carrera Cup team. He has new tracks to learn and a new car to understand, which is a very steep learning curve, but he’ll be challenging every driver in the field. We’re excited to get to Sebring and get started.”
