Dickinson Quickest in Opening Practice at Rennsport

Riley Dickinson led the way in opening Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America practice at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca as part of Porsche Rennsport Rennsport Reunion 7.

The Kellymoss driver, who cliched the Pro class title last time out at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, reeled off a best lap of 1:23.848 to edge out JDX Racing’s Will Martin by 0.084 seconds.

Michael McCann was third quickest, followed by JDX’s Alex Sedgwick in fourth and Jason Hart, who completed the top-five for MDK Motorsports.

Sean Varwig, Ryan Yardley, Jimmy Llibre, Michael McCarthy and Dan Clarke rounded out the top-ten in the 40-minute session.

Pro-Am was led by the No. 68 MDK Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Chris Bellomo, while Scott Noble, also of MDK, topped the Am class in his No. 10 entry.

Several drivers found their way into the gravel trap during the session, although it only resulted in local yellows and no red flags.

Practice 2 is on tap for Saturday at 9:40 a.m. PDT (12:40 p.m. EDT) followed by qualifying at 2:20 p.m. local.
