Riley Dickinson made a late charge to claim pole position for Kellymoss in Race 1 of the Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America weekend at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Dickinson took his No. 53 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car across the timing line just 0.033 seconds ahead of McElrea Racing’s Tom Sargent after both drivers improved on the final lap of the session.

Dickinson’s 1:19.246 pole lap also earned him the new Carrera Cup lap record at the Long Beach street circuit, surpassing Kay Van Berlo’s 1:19.667 benchmark set last year.

Topp Racing’s Ryan Yardley also made a late improvement to take the third fastest spot on the timing charts, while Michael McCann (McCann Racing) and JDX’s Will Martin rounded out the top-five.

Alan Metni claimed the Pro-Am pole position for Kellymoss, narrowly edging out ACI’s Marco Cirone by 0.036 seconds. Practice 2 Pro-Am pace-setter, Efrin Castro will start third in class for tomorrow’s race.

In Am, Mark Kvamme topped the times with his 1:21.889 in his No. 43 MDK Motorsports Porsche.

The 30-minute qualifying session was divided into two segments to provide the maximum amount of track time for the capacity 35-car field. Pro-Am and Am class drivers qualified first, with the field of 20 Pro class drivers ending the session.

Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday evening at 5:15 p.m. PT (8:15 p.m. ET) with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us, IMSA.tv and Peacock.
