Trenton Estep has claimed pole for this afternoon’s opening Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands race of the weekend on the streets of Toronto.

The MDK Motorsports driver, who led the way in Friday’s second practice session, reeled off a best lap of 1:11.135 in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to edge out points leader Kay van Berlo by 0.108 seconds in the 30-minute qualifying session.

Parker Thompson qualified third in the No. 9 JDX Racing entry, followed by Riley Dickinson and Varun Choksey, who completed the top five for Kelly-Moss and Wright Motorsports, respectively.

Pro-Am class pole honors went to Efrin Castro in the No. 65 Kelly-Moss entry while Topp Racing’s Bill Smith claimed the class pole in Am.

Sixteen cars are now set for the pair of 40-minute races after an accident on the cool-down lap in Practice 2 involving TJ Fischer that has ruled out the No. 58 Topp Porsche from the remainder of the event.

Fischer was involved in the incident with Adam Adelson, who is now on a two-race probation, starting today, for “30.2.4 Unjustifiable Risk”.

Adelson’s car has been repaired for this afternoon’s race.

Race 1 is set for a 3:35 p.m. ET start with live coverage on Peacock, IMSA.tv and PorscheCarreraCup.us.
