Aaron Jeansonne claimed his first Porsche Carrera Cup North America victory of the season to put him firmly into contention for the Pro class championship with four races to go.
The Kellymoss driver took a 1.651-second win over the No. 40 ACI Motorsports Porsche 911 Cup of Janne Stiak in the 40-minute race that saw points leader Tyler Maxson finish fifth.
Maxson, in the No. 77 Topp Racing Porsche, started on the front row but dropped to fifth after the opening lap and was unable to recover.
He applied heavy pressure on the No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering Porsche of Jared Thomas for fourth, although Thomas was able to hold off Maxson to the finish.
Up front, it marked Jeansonne’s second career win, which saw a 16-point swing that has put the Kellymoss driver within 11 markers of the championship leader Maxson.
The No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche of Callum Hedge completed the Pro class podium in third.
Paul Bocuse finished sixth in the No. 71 Kellymoss entry, ahead of series debutant Lockie Bloxsom, who was involved in an incident with Cole Kleck that led to a ten-second post-race time penalty for Kleck in the No. 78 Topp entry.
Patrick Mulcahy clinched the Pro-Am class title by starting the race, although the ACI driver was the only retirement in the contest after pitting with 13 minutes to go.
Masters class honors in Sunday’s race went to Marco Cirone, who finished ahead of Scott Blind and Rob Walker.
