Recent Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland race winner Leon Koehler will make his Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by the Cayman Islands debut in this weekend’s season-ending triple-header at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

The 22-year-old German, who finished third in the German single-make championship joins MRS GT-Racing in its Pro class No. 14 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Steve Dunn will continue racing for the German team in the Pro-Am class in the final three North American races of the season.

Koehler’s availability opened up due to the fact of theU.S. is now accepting vaccinated travelers from the European Union and other nations as of Monday.

“We are very pleased that it worked out with Leon, which was not foreseeable under the current travel restrictions,” explained team owner Karsten Molitor.

“The aim of this action is clearly defined; we want to put an exclamation point again at the end of the season and, in the best case, win in order to recommend ourselves for 2022 now.

“Although the fast track at Road Atlanta is new territory for the youngster, given plenty of track time in three races, this should be compensable.

“Next year’s calendar of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America includes the famous city race in Long Beach and a championship race in Laguna Seca.

“MRS will also add another vehicle to its range and attack with three 992 Cup vehicles.”
