Llarena Set for Official Test With MRS-GT Racing

Mateo Llarena has joined MRS-GT Racing for next week’s official Porsche Carrera Cup North America pre-season test at Sebring International Raceway.

The 17-year-old Guatemalan, who recently made his LMP3 debut in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona with Performance Tech Motorsports, will sample the German squad’s new Porsche 911 GT3 R Cup car in the two-day test starting on Monday.

Llarena had previous Porsche single-make series experience from last year’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season and has driven every generation 911 Cup race car model since the type-996.

His test comes on the heels of the team seeking a driver to fill the second seat in its planned two-car operation.

An entry list for the March 18-19 series opener has yet to be released.
