Will Martin claimed his first Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America victory for JDX Racing in Race 2 of the weekend on the streets of Long Beach.

The Brit survived heavy pressure from pole-sitter Tom Sargent’s No. 17 McElrea Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car behind, as the two ran nose-to-tail for the final 14 minutes of the 40-minute sprint race.

Martin quickly found his way past championship leader Riley Dickinson to slot into second on the opening lap before the field fell under caution.

The JDX driver then set his sights on Sargent, who he passed into Turn 1 on the first of two restarts.

Dickinson held off late pressure from MDK’s Jimmy Llibre to complete the overall podium. Just behind, JDX’s Alex Sedgwick rounded out the top-five.

In Pro-Am, ACI Motorsports’ Marco Cirone claimed victory ahead of the No. 56 of Jeff Mosing. Efrin Castro completed the Pro-Am podium.

Mark Kvamme swept the Am class weekend, taking his third win of the season after fending off John Goetz in the closing stages of the race.

The 35-car field tucked in behind the safety car after only a few laps as Sean Varwig’s No. 2 Kellymoss machine was retrieved from the Turn 9 runoff area.

Varwig made contact with the wall into the braking zone, resulting in terminal damage.

No fewer than four separate incidents occurred on the opening revolution.

The second yellow was shown at the halfway mark when Thomas Nepveu, whose No. 24 McElrea Racing Porsche ground to a halt along the back straightaway after an impact the outside wall at Turn 8.

RESULTS: Race 2
