Seb Priaulx will start this afternoon’s opening Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands race of the weekend from the pole following a closely fought qualifying session Saturday morning at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Kelly-Moss Road & Race driver reeled off a best lap of 1:36.497 with eight minutes remaining in the 30-minute session to bump early session pace-setter Parker Thompson from provisional pole.

Priaulx’s lap was 0.123 seconds quicker than the Canadian JDX Racing driver.

Pro class championship leader Kay van Berlo will start third in his Kelly-Moss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, followed by the No. 53 Team Hardpoint EBM entry of Riley Dickinson and Leh Keen’s 311 RS Motorsports entry.

Efrin Castro secured the Pro-Am class pole in his Hardpoint EBM entry, thanks to a 1:39.023 lap time that edged out Friday pace-setter Curt Swearingin.

Pro-Am 991 class pole honors, meanwhile, went to Joseph Lombardo in the No. 92 Kelly-Moss Type 991.2 Porsche.

Twenty-six of the 27 entered cars turned laps in qualifying, with Alan Metni absent from on-track activities until Sunday due to his Lamborghini Super Trofro North America commitments at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Race 1 gets underway at 4:15 p.m. ET with live coverage on porschecarreracup.us.
