Seb Priaulx extended his Pro class championship lead with victory in Sunday’s Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands race at Virginia International Raceway.

Priaulx held off a battle with Riley Dickinson for his fourth victory of the season in a race that saw title rival and Race 1 winner Kay van Berlo crash out at the start.

The Dutchman and the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Parker Thompson had slight contact, which resulted in the Kelly-Moss Road & Race Porsche into the slippery grass and hard into the barriers.

Van Berlo was visibly upset at Thompson after climbing from his car, although race control deemed no further action on the incident.

The accident came at a significant setback in van Berlo’s title hunt, having entered Sunday’s race just 34 points behind Priaulx.

Priaulx in the No. 15 Kelly-Moss Porsche finished 1.396 seconds ahead of Dickinson’s No. 53 Team Hardpoint entry in second.

The No. 9 JDX Porsche of Thompson completed the podium in third ahead of Max Root in the No. 7 Moorespeed-Wright Motorsports entry.

TJ Fisher completed the top-five in the No. 58 Topp Racing Porsche, meanwhile, with Leh Keen sixth for 311 RS Motorsport.

Alan Metni appeared to be en route to a sweep of the weekend in Pro-Am until spinning out of the class lead on the final lap in his No. 99 Kelly-Moss Porsche.

It handed the top class honors to Efrin Castro in the No. 65 Team Hardpoint Porsche on the team’s home soil.

Castro earned his fourth class win of the season, with Metni rebounding to finish second in class ahead of Tim Pappas in third.

The Pro-Am 991 class win went again to the No. 55 Goldcrest Motorsports Porsche of Matt Halcome in the 45-minute contest.

RESULTS: Race 2
