Kay van Berlo collected his sixth Porsche Carrera Cup North America presented by The Cayman Islands victory of the season in a controlling run Saturday afternoon at Virginia International Raceway.

The Dutchman led a Kelly-Moss Road & Race sweep of the top two positions, with points leader Seb Priaulx coming home second in the No. 15 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car after a race-long battle with Riley Dickinson.

Van Berlo jumped out into an early lead from pole and crossed the line 7.410 seconds of Priaulx in the 45-minute contest, which ran caution-free despite several minor incidents further down the field.

With the points for pole and the win, it has provisionally put van Berlo within 33 points of the 20-year-old Multimatic driver with four races still to go.

Dickinson completed the Pro class and overall podium in the No. 53 Team Hardpoint Porsche, followed by the No. 9 JDX Racing entry of Parker Thompson in fourth.

Erik Johansson, who started third, slipped back to a fifth place result in his MRS GT-Racing entry ahead of the No. 12 311RS Motorsport Porsche of Leh Keen, who was classified in sixth.

Pro-Am class honors again went to the No. 99 Kelly-Moss Porsche of Alain Metni while Goldcrest Motorsports’ Matt Halcome picked up another win in Pro-Am 991 for previous-generation single-make Porsche machinery.

Race 2 gets underway Sunday at 12:15 p.m. ET with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us and IMSA.tv featuring Radio Le Mans commentary.
