Sargent Storms to Second Career Pole at COTA

McElrea Racing driver takes pole for this afternoon’s penultimate round of season…

Thomas Sargent drove to pole position for this afternoon’s penultimate round of Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America at Circuit of The Americas.

The Australian earned his second career pole, thanks to a storming 2:06.808 in his No. 17 McElrea Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

It was 0.253 seconds clear of second-placed Riley Dickinson, with the No. 98 PT Autosport-backed JDX Racing Porsche of Alex Sedgwick set to start third.

Michael McCarthy and Michael Cooper rounded out the top-five for Kellymoss and Accelerating Performance, respectively.

Ryan Yardley, Thomas Merrill, Travis Wiley, Jason Hart and Bayley Hall completed the top-ten.

Pro-Am class pole honors went to Chris Bellomo in the No. 68 MDK Motorsports Porsche, while Am class points leader Scott Noble took pole in class heading into this afternoon’s 40-minute contest.

Race 1 gets underway at 2:10 p.m. CDT with live coverage on PorscheCarreraCup.us and Peacock, featuring commentary from John Hindhaugh and Shea Adam.
