HubAuto Racing will bring a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to the Asian Le Mans Series this season after contesting the previous campaign with Ferrari machinery.

Having been synonymous with the Prancing Horse, the Taiwan-based team became a Ferrari customer outfit in 2018.

It ran a Ferrari 488 GT3 in the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli and also appeared in the Asian Le Mans Series, winning the GT title last season.

For 2021, team principal Morris Chen said HubAuto had “certain criteria that needed to be met for a deal to be set in stone” and that it “spoke with a number of manufacturers” before settling on the decision to launch a customer effort with Mercedes-AMG.

Ultimately HubAuto Racing came to an agreement with AMG for the upcoming season where it will be the only team representing the German manufacturer.

“Mercedes-AMG displayed professionalism and integrity, which is key to integrating with our team,” said Chen.

“We have been impressed with the Mercedes marque for some time and we are very excited for our team’s future.

“We have a great car, highly skilled technical personnel and a pool of extremely talented drivers.”

Factory Mercedes-AMG driver Raffaele Marciello spearheads the driving lineup and is joined by Marcos Gomes and Liam Talbot who are back to defend their title.

Gomes has been with the team for more than two years, while bronze-rated Talbot shared driving duties at three of the four rounds last year.

“We believe we have a very competitive package, and our goal is nothing less than to win the championship,” added Chen.

“We are very happy to welcome HubAuto Racing joining the Mercedes-AMG family,” commented Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing.

“With last years’ titles in the drivers and in the team championship of the Asian Le Mans Series, HubAuto proved, in an expressive way, their experience and professionalism especially at endurance races.

“We are proud to have them on board and we will support Morris Chen and his team with the high standard of quality of our Customer Racing program to defend the titles in the series.”

The condensed Asian LMS season kicks off with a double-header at Dubai Autodrome from Feb. 13-14.

HubAuto has not confirmed any other racing plans beyond this four-round campaign.
