Newly announced AF Corse Hypercar driver Robert Kubica will dovetail his FIA World Endurance Championship commitments with a return to European Le Mans Series.

The Polish driver, who was confirmed on Monday as the first driver aboard the No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P in the WEC’s expanded Hypercar class for next year, will return to ELMS competition for the first time in three years in a TF Sport-entered Oreca 07 Gibson.

Kubica made his first steps into prototype competition in the series in 2021, teaming with Louis Deletraz and Yifei Ye in a Team WRT Oreca 07 Gibson and taking three race wins en route to the LMP2 title.

Deletraz and Kubica then remained aligned as they moved up to WEC with Prema before linking back up with WRT to win the LMP2 title alongside Rui Andrade last month.

The move would see TF Sport expand to field two LMP2 cars in the series for the first time even as Salih Yoluc, the team’s previous Bronze-rated driver, was upgraded to a Silver rating for the 2024 season.

Team principal Tom Ferrier previously told Sportscar365 that the Racing Team Turkey effort is set to continue in 2024 despite Yoluc’s re-categorization and would instead graduate to the championship’s top class.
