Harrison Newey has been drafted in to replace the injured Jack Manchester at Carlin for this afternoon’s European Le Mans Series race after a heavy shunt for Manchester in Free Practice 1.
Manchester went off at Stowe with a brake failure during Friday morning’s first session, damaging the team’s Dallara P217 Gibson and cutting the session short.
Manchester was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he was diagnosed with two broken ribs. While we won’t be able to drive for the rest of the weekend, he is back at the track.
Newey will therefore share Carlin’s Dallara with Harry Tincknell and Ben Barnicoat for this afternoon’s four-hour race, which gets underway at 2:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. EDT).
The team has sourced a spare chassis from FIA World Endurance Championship outfit Cetilar Racing, the only other team here this weekend campaigning a Dallara.
ELMS qualifying will get underway at 10:55 a.m. (5:55 a.m. EDT).
