Formula 2 runner-up Frederik Vesti and Ferdinand Habsburg have been added to the driver lineup for Cool Racing’s second LMP2 entry in the European Le Mans Series.

The pair join Alex Garcia in the No. 47 Oreca 07 Gibson, the Mexican driver having been named last month upon the announcement of the 2024 ELMS entry list.

Vesti will make his sportscar racing debut with Cool having previously raced exclusively in single-seaters. He won the Formula Regional European Championship title in 2019 before stepping up to FIA Formula 3 in 2020 and then F2 in 2022, earning the backing of the Mercedes F1 team in 2021.

The Danish driver won six races last year driving for Prema Racing on his way to the runner-up spot in the standings behind Theo Pourchaire.

Habsburg meanwhile will combine ELMS with his already-announced FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar program with Alpine, returning to the series after a year away. He was previously part of the LMP2 title-winning lineup at Prema in 2022.

Cool has already named Malthe Jakobsen, Lorenzo Fluxa and Ritomo Miyata as its drivers for its No. 37 entry.

“We are thrilled and proud to have confirmed such talented driver lineups for the 2024 season,” said team co-founder Nicolas Lapierre. “The backbone of the team is identical, with youth and an obvious sporting potential.

“It’s important for us to stay with Alex, who continues his development with us and he will be able to count on Ferdi’s experience. Frederik fits well within our philosophy and we can be ambitious in our objectives. Now, all of this must translate to the track in a category that’s more and more competitive.

“We’ve reinforced our technical organisation in these last few seasons and we’re hoping to capitalize on the experience gained. The 2024 season, with two LMP2 Pro and one LMP3, is an important one for the team.”
