Ex-Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr will make his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut this year with the Villorba Corse LMP2 squad.

Nasr has been confirmed behind the wheel of the Italian outfit’s Dallara P217 Gibson alongside team regulars Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto.

The 25-year-old Brazilian will contest both the French endurance classic and the rest of the European Le Mans Series campaign starting at the Four Hours of Monza next month, replacing team veteran Andrea Belicchi, who developed an injury following the pre-season ELMS test in March.

After spending two seasons with Sauber in Formula 1, Nasr switched to sports cars full-time this year, having signed with Action Express Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

There are no clashes between the IMSA Prototype races and ELMS rounds.

“I’m really happy to drive for Cetilar Villorba Corse, with which I tested at Circuit Paul Ricard last year,” said Nasr. “It’s nice to go back to an Italian team since I started my driving career in single seaters with an Italian team.

“I’m excited to drive this Dallara and have the opportunity to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is one of my dreams.”
