Nick Boulle and Orey Fidani have won IMSA’s Jim Trueman and Bob Akin Award titles, securing auto-invites to next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Confirmed following Saturday’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans, Boulle also took the season-long LMP2 championship title alongside Inter Eurpol by PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports co-driver Tom Dillmann.
“I was certainly paying attention to that as the race wound down,” said Boulle. “Tom pointed it out that he potentially could have been more aggressive and taken some risks later in the race with a few minutes to go.
“He pointed it out that our finishing position guaranteed it, two back and that went away.
“I guess I have a trip to France next year.”
Fidani, meanwhile, helped drive his No. 13 AWA Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R to a 12th place class finish in the ten-hour enduro at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, solidifying he and the team’s goal of securing the invite for next year’s French endurance classic.
It means there will be at least three Corvettes on the grid for the 2025 Le Mans race.
“I couldn’t be happier or more proud right now,” said Fidani. “This is the goal we set for ourselves at the very beginning of this program coming together, and we worked tirelessly to see it through.
“No matter what happened throughout this season, we were always focused on the Bob Akin Championship and getting a 24 Hours of Le Mans entry, and we never lost sight of the big picture.
“I can’t thank Andrew and the entire AWA crew enough for all they’ve done. I love everybody on this team from the bottom of my heart. I’m so excited and I can’t wait to show what we can do in France!”
In addition to IMSA’s two Pro-Am classes, Porsche Penske Motorsport also secured an auto-invite to the Hypercar class for winning the GTP title with its No. 7 Porsche 963 of Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron.
