The Simonsen name will return to the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage V8 in this weekend’s Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas, with Benny Simonsen, the younger brother of the late Allan, landing a last-minute ride with the British manufacturer.

The Bronze-rated Dane has been drafted into replace Roald Goethe in the GTE-Am class No. 96 Aston, alongside full-season co-drivers Stuart Hall and Francesco Castellacci.

It will mark his first FIA World Endurance Championship start since a one-off appearance with JWA-Avila Racing in the Six Hours of Bahrain in 2012.

Simonsen, a front-runner in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, has also competed in select Blancpain Endurance Series rounds and made his debut in the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year.
