TF Sport’s Jonny Edgar says he is hoping that his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut provides “more of the same” as he praised the Corvette LMGT3 squad for its “perfect execution” in the opening part of the FIA World Endurance Championship season.

Edgar and his teammates aboard the No. 33 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Daniel Juncadella and Ben Keating, go into next month’s blue riband WEC round leading the LMGT3 championship by four points from the No. 21 AF Corse Ferrari crew.

The trio opened the season with a win in Qatar in February before following that up with a seventh-place finish at Imola, but success ballast and a deteriorating Balance of Performance for the Corvette rendered TF uncompetitive at Spa.

Despite struggling for pace at the Belgian track, Silver-rated Edgar is heading into his first Le Mans appearance in a positive frame of mind, saying that the fact the No. 33 crew have managed to avoid mistakes and penalties so far in 2025 gives him confidence.

“Ben has had a lot of success there, and Dani is fast everywhere,” Edgar told Sportscar365. “It’s a new track for me to learn but I am sure it will be ok, with the test day to get up to speed. We just have to hope we are a bit closer on pace.

“I’m very happy with the way we have executed these first three races. Apart from one penalty in Qatar I think we have been pretty much perfect, and we have got the maximum possible result every time, even at Spa.

“I think we have been the car with the least penalties and errors so far this season, so I am happy about that.

“The car set-up has been good every time and none of us have really made mistakes. We just need more of the same [at Le Mans] and aim to maximize the result. Whether that’s enough to win or it’s only enough for P5, that’s always the aim.”

Looking back on a Spa race to forget for both the TF Sport Corvettes, Edgar said that “we couldn’t have done anything else” as he and his co-drivers in the No. 33 car finished 13th in class, one position ahead of the sister No. 81 machine.

“In terms of execution, it was perfect, like Imola,” said the Briton. “We just lacked a lot of pace; especially the first half a stint on new tires, we were three seconds off what the leading cars could do.

“There were times that we made it as far as sixth or eighth on strategy, but then we always dropped back. We couldn’t defend as we were too far off.”

Edgar admits that the championship will be on his mind at Le Mans, particularly with double points on offer in the French classic, but also says that he won’t be afraid to go for it should the opportunity to fight for victory present itself.

“We all want to win Le Mans, but if the win is out of the question, we’d switch our focus to the championship,” he said. “I don’t think we’d take too much risk if it was the difference between P4 and P5. But for a win, you have to go for it.

“The championship will still be in mind, but winning Le Mans with double points is also the best thing for the championship.

“Ben wants to win it again, and me and Dani haven’t won there yet, so it would be nice, also for Corvette, which has given us a great car, and the team has done a great job. So I think everyone deserves a good result there.”
