Following its history-making 24 Hours of Le Mans double podium and LMP2 victory, Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport had the chance to thank their action superstar supporter in-person at the Jackie Chan Action Movie Week Gala Night in Shanghai on Thursday.
Team owner David Cheng was joined by Ho-Pin Tung, who became the first-ever Chinese driver to win the race in the No. 38 Oreca 07 Gibson, and teammate Alex Brundle, to express the team’s thanks for the Rush Hour star’s support which has played a key role in powering the team to unprecedented success this season.
Cheng said: “Thank you, Jackie, for all of your support from the entire team. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
The team then presented its Le Mans winning trophies to a delighted Chan, who asked they “keep up the good work,” something they will be looking to do when they’re back in action at the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring next month.
Chan joined his drivers to pose with the trophies in front of the packed Oriental TV Theatre in Shanghai’s Pudong district.
With Cheng, Tung and Brundle the stars of the race track, the evening was full of action stars from the silver screen as well as some of the world’s most successful movie directors, including Rob Cohen, creator of The Fast and the Furious film franchise, China’s Feng Xiaogang, and Die Hard 2 director, Renny Harlin.
Chan was also reunited with his Rush Hour co-star Chris Tucker, who was on hand to congratulate the drivers on their Le Mans success.
