Kamui Kobayashi returned to the wheel of a Toyota TS040 Hybrid, with the Japanese driver preparing for a possible outing in next month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Kobayashi, who joined Toyota Gazoo Racing teammate Mike Conway at the first of a two-day test at Spa on Tuesday, could replace Kazuki Nakajima, who continues his recover from a fractured vertebra following an accident at the Belgian track earlier this month.

No decision has been made, although it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for both Japanese drivers to join defending World Champions Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi in the No. 1 Toyota at the Le Mans Test Day next weekend.

G-Drive Racing, OAK Racing, Strakka Racing, ByKolles Racing and BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS were also in attendance for the test.
