Porsche Penske Motorsport’s No. 6 car has been disqualified from Wednesday’s first qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to a minimum weight infraction.
Kevin Estre had qualified the No. 6 Porsche 963 fourth, 0.513 seconds off the pace, but the car will now start from the back of the grid in the Hypercar class after post-session scrutineering found the car to be underweight.
It means that the No. 009 Aston Martin Valkyrie that had qualified 16th moves up to 15th, securing the final place in Hyperpole in the process.
The relevant stewards’ bulletin read: “Technical checks were conducted at the end of the qualifying session with the presence of team representatives. There, after having examined the Technical Delegate report, the Stewards considered the minimum car weight did not comply with the relevant regulations.
“During the hearing, the team manager confirmed and accepted the procedure of the scrutineering and the measurements. Consequently, the Stewards decided to impose the disqualification of car 6 from the qualifying session.
“Car 6 will start at the back of the grid of his category according to the Article 10.2.2 of 2025 24 hours of Le Mans supplementary regulations.”
