VIDEO: 8Star Reconsidering WEC Involvement

Enzo Potolicchio considers pulling entry from FIA WEC over driver ranking debacle…

Following a fourth place finish in Sunday’s Six Hours of the Circuit of The Americas, 8Star Motorsports is reconsidering its involvement for the remainder of the FIA WEC season, according to team boss Enzo Potolicchio.

As revealed in today’s post-race video blog, the Venezuelan owner/driver is waiting for a response from the FIA Endurance Commission regarding the current driver ranking enforcement in GTE-Am. The current policy, has allowed some teams to run only a single Silver-rated driver when using a two-driver lineup instead of the more traditional three-driver squads, where two Bronze or Silver-rated drivers are required.

The American-entered team started on class pole but slipped back midway through the six-hour race, which saw a 1-2 finish in class for Aston Martin Racing. AMR’s Jamie Campbell-Walter and Silver-rated driver Stuart Hall picked up their second consecutive class victory.

See what Potolicchio and co-driver Rui Aguas had to say about Sunday’s race and what the future could hold for 8Star’s WEC effort.
