United Autosports will return to Mount Panorama for the third consecutive year in quest of victory in the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
The Anglo-American squad confirmed Friday its driver lineup for the Australian enduro, which will feature Audi Sport customer racing driver Markus Winkelhock, who joins U.S.-based drivers Mark Patterson and Eric Lux at the wheel of its Audi R8 LMS ultra.
Winkelhock, the 2012 Nurburgring 24 Hours winner and FIA GT1 World Champion, is one of the most experienced drivers at the wheel of the mid-engined German sports car.
“To have Markus on board is a great advantage to us with his Audi knowledge and skill,” team owner and managing director Richard Dean said.
“To have Mark with us again is fantastic as he is such a consistent driver and one of the best gentlemen drivers out there. Plus he knows his way around the Mount Panorama track. It is also great to welcome Eric into the team in what will be our third visit to the Australian race.
“We are hopeful of a good result this year after a strong showing last year, at one point we were the leading Audi on track, but unfortunately that campaign ended abruptly with only 10 minutes to go so hopefully this year will be significantly more successful.”
United’s entry is one of seven Audis set to do battle in the 55-car field on Feb. 7-9.
