Attempto Racing will continue to compete in the DTM this year as the operating partner of the Tresor Orange1 program which features two Audi Sport factory drivers.

The German squad fielded a single Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II last season for Marius Zug but was not among the 13 teams initially confirmed for the 2023 campaign.

Tresor on Tuesday announced that Mattia Drudi and Patric Niederhauser will make their DTM debuts having represented Audi customer teams in several other championships including Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS and ADAC GT Masters.

Drudi will pilot the No. 40 Audi and 2019 GT Masters champion Niederhauser will drive the No. 83.

As previously reported, electric motor company Orange1 — which previously backed Lamborghini’s GT3 programs — has switched to Audi squad Tresor Competition this year.

In turn, Tresor has changed operating teams from Car Collection Motorsport to Attempto Racing for its second season of racing, which will also include a GTWC Europe program involving Drudi as one of the drivers.

“Taking on DTM together with Orange1 and with drivers like Drudi and Niederhauser, who are now part of the Audi Sport drivers’ lineup, is both a great privilege and a great challenge,” said Tresor owner Ferdinando Geri.

“We are particularly determined, as we only know some of the circuits in the championship, but we believe we can play a leading role among competitors of a very high level.

“Thanks also to Arkin Aka and Attempto Racing GmbH who have decided to tackle this important project together with us.”

Orange1 Holding president Armando Donazzan added: “Participating in the DTM and winning is a primary goal given the incredible level of the championship.

“We believe we have all the right cards to be able to achieve this. I thank Audi Sport and Tresor Competition for sharing this project with us.”
