T3 Motorsport will not compete at this weekend’s DTM round at Imola, with its two Lamborghini entries pulled from the weekend at short notice.
The Dresden-based squad had completed the opening two rounds of the season at Portimao and the Lausitzring with a pair of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evos driven by Aston Martin factory driver Nicki Thiim and Esmee Hawkey.
However, a statement issued by DTM on Tuesday evening, days before the third weekend of the season is set to get underway, indicated that the team will not be present on the grid at the Italian venue.
The squad was also set to compete in the DTM Trophy support series with a pair of Audi R8 LMS GT4s for Matias Salonen and John Paul Southern Jr.
“We were informed at short notice that both DTM and DTM Trophy cars will not start in Imola,” DTM manager Frederic Elsner said.
“We cannot and will not comment on the reasons for this, as it is a matter of the team.”
T3 Motorsport had experienced a disappointing start to its second season in the series. Thiim and Hawkey both failed to score points at Portimao and Lausitzring.
The pairing recorded three retirements between them, with the best result twelfth place for Thiim in the opening round of the season in Portugal.
Lamborghini remains represented on the grid by GRT Grasser Racing Team’s four-car entry, headlined by factory driver Mirko Bortolotti.
