Tony Davis ended up quickest following a pair of practice sessions for this weekend’s GT America powered by AWS races at Circuit of The Americas.
The HP-TECH driver recorded a chart-topping 2:06.332 in his Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo in Friday’s second practice session to edge out Practice 1 pace-setter Ross Chouest in his Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R by 0.627 seconds.
Memo Gidley, who swept the opening weekend at Sonoma Raceway, was third quickest on the combined time sheets in his SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, followed by Scott Blind in his Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.
The One11 Competition Ferrari of Jason McCarthy completed the overall top-five and in the SRO3 class.
Jozsef Petkes led the way in both sessions in his RCX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, while David Lecko, the lone Cup class entrant this weekend, ended up quicker than the GT4 class in his Ginetta GTP8.
While the second session ran without a red flag, a stoppage, reportedly for the No. 88 Kellymoss Porsche of John Gilliland in the closing moments of the opening practice, brought out a session-ending red flag.
Qualifying is on tap for Saturday at 11:40 a.m. CST, ahead of Race 1 of the weekend at 3:20 p.m. CST, which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
