Logan Adams completed a clean sweep of the Mustang Cup USA weekend at Virginia International Raceway, taking his No. 86 Capaldi Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R to victory in both the Miles and Parnelli Cups.
Having started on pole for both races, Adams held off a challenge from Dark Horse Legends race winner Craig Capaldi in Saturday’s 40-minute contest at the 3.27-mile circuit.
Capaldi made an opening lap pass for the class lead on the No. 24 Serpent Stangs Racing of Steve Luca prior to a full course caution, which then set up a five-minute shootout to the finish.
The No. 21 McCumbee McAleer Racing entry of Carlton MacFarlane was classified third in DHL, sixth overall, behind Luca and Dark Horse class runner Kale Buhl.
Sunday’s Parnelli Cup, meanwhile, saw Adams fend off multiple challenges from Buhl, who finished just 0.388 seconds behind in his No. 8 Leif Johnson Ford Racing entry.
Craig Capaldi, who finished third overall on Sunday, meanwhile, doubled up on class victories in DHL, ahead of the No. 5 C Miller Racing of Miller Richmond, who recorded a fifth place overall finish and runner-up result in class.
Bruce Griffin, in his return to Mustang single-make competition, completed the DHL class podium in Sunday’s race aboard his No. 25 Flying Lion Motorsports entry.
Mustang Cup USA will be back in action at Road America on Aug. 14-16.
