Audi Sport has revealed a set of classic-inspired special liveries for its four factory-supported entries into next weekend’s Nürburgring 24.

The defending winner of the Nordschleife enduro has called upon designs from its motorsport history for the quartet of Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo IIs that are entered under the Audi Sport Team banner.

The No. 1 car from Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX draws inspiration from past American racing programs including the Audi 200 quattro that won the 1998 Trans-Am title and the Audi 90 quattro that competed in the IMSA GTO class.

As previously confirmed, defending N24 winner Frederic Vervisch will share the No. 1 machine with Mattia Drudi, Ricardo Feller and Dennis Lind.

Audi Sport Team Car Collection will arrive with a livery paying homage to the hybrid-powered Audi 18 LMP1 prototypes that claimed two FIA World Endurance Championship titles and three 24 Hours of Le Mans victories in the early 2010s.

The No. 39 car from Audi Sport Team Land sports a 1980s rallying throwback livery, with yellow stripes complementing the former company racing colors of mahogany brown, gray and red on a white background.

Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX’s additional entry for past DTM champions Martin Tomczyk, Timo Schieder and Mike Rockenfeller will carry a special silver design and the No. 40 to celebrate four decades of Audi Sport and its predecessor quattro GmbH.

“This year the audience at the Nürburgring can look forward to a special appearance,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Rolf Michl.

“The four Audi R8 LMS offer the many fans of this race and the Audi brand, as well as photographers and cameramen, an exciting reinterpretation of unforgettable liveries.”

Audi Sport’s Head of customer racing Chris Reinke added: “After six victories in the past eleven years, we now want to race for our seventh success in the world’s biggest endurance race.

“The Audi design department team has taken historical motifs as a model to develop four new designs for the R8 LMS. They are completely unique, but immediately call to mind images of earlier Audi race cars.”

In addition to the four factory-supported entries, Scherer Sport Team PHX is running two independent Audis at the N24.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP drivers Alexander Sims and Renger van der Zande will share the No. 5 car with Frank Stippler and Vincent Kolb.

The sister No. 16 car will be driven by Markus Winkelhock, Michele Beretta, Kim Luis Schramm and Feller who is also part of the No. 1 Audi Sport Team Scherer PHX crew.
