Following the car’s debut earlier this month by Car Collection Motorsport, Audi will entrust Montaplast by Land Motorsport for the R8 LMS Evo’s second test race in this weekend’s VLN season-ending round.

Marcel Fassler and Frederic Vervisch will pilot the 2019-spec Audi, which will again compete in the SPX class for unhomologated cars, looking to improve on Car Collection’s fifth place overall finish in VLN8 with Christopher Haase and Jamie Green at the wheel.

The Wolfgang Land-owned team will also campaign a current-generation Audi for Sheldon van der Linde and Christopher Mies.

Manthey Racing will also be present with the new Porsche 911 GT3 R for Mathieu Jaminet and Michael Christensen, in its continued development program.

Sportscar365 believes Saturday’s round could be the final outing for Audi’s Evo package this year, after initially planning to run it, also with Land, in next month’s Michelin IMSA SportsCar Encore at Sebring.

It’s understood IMSA has elected not to accept any new or upgraded cars for the four-hour race, which has caught out several GT3 manufacturers that were looking to get a start on 2019 preparations with IMSA’s new Michelin tires.
