Falken Motorsports will run its Porsche 911 GT3 R in this weekend’s ninth and final VLN race of the season with a Porsche works pairing of Sven Mueller and Patrick Pilet.

The team had planned for VLN 8, which was held on Oct. 12, to be the last outing of the year for both its Porsche and BMW M6 GT3, but will now run its 911 in VLN 9 on Saturday.

It will use this weekend’s four-hour race to test setups for next year with two drivers from Porsche’s factory roster.

Martin Ragginger and Klaus Bachler drove the car for most of the season so far, with Joerg Bergmeister and Dirk Werner substituting on different occasions.

Mueller (pictured above) took a Falken Porsche to second on the grid in 2018’s running of the Nürburgring 24, although Pilet, who ultimately won that race, has never raced on Falken tires before.

“Our original plan was to conclude our season at VLN 8 where we scored another top six finish in the Porsche,” said head of Falken motorsport Stefanie Olbertz.

“This was our first year with the 991.2 so when we were offered the opportunity for some extra running, together with the chance to get feedback from two highly experienced Porsche drivers, it made sense to enter VLN9 too. We’d like to thank Porsche for the opportunity.”
