A return to Sonoma Raceway brought familiar results for Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama, as Brannan Hankins remained undefeated, Anna Cecchi completed a Cayman Pro-Am sweep and Matt Dusek scored his first victories of the season during Velocity Invitational.
Perfect Streak Continues for Hankins
In the GT3 Cup Pro-Am category, Hankins and the Loftus Motorsports crew remain unbeatable this season with seven wins in seven races.
Hankins won both rounds at Sonoma this past weekend as the headliner event during the sunny Velocity Invitational, just one month after capturing both victories at the same track during rainy Rounds 3 and 4.
In his first Sprint Challenge USA West appearance this year, Josh Conley (Black Sheep Racing) finished second in both races at Sonoma.
In third was Mark Crigler (Crigler Sport LLC), who sits just 22 points shy of Hankins in the class championship with four races remaining.
Winning both rounds in the GT3 Cup Masters class was Dusek, who hopped over to USA West from Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama.
It was the CHR driver’s first wins across both series this year, and the success came ahead of Laura Ely (Black Sheep Racing) and fellow CHR teammate Dan Drohan.
Ely and Drohan completed the class podiums in both races at Sonoma, and the former extends her championship lead by 31 points over Manuel Gil Del Real who finished fourth on Saturday and Sunday.
Checchi Continues California Success
Returning to the site of her first Porsche Sprint Challenge racetrack, Cecchi enjoyed a double victory ahead of her father, Greg, in the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport Pro-Am class.
Running with Charlie Hayes Racing, the Cecchi duo finished 1-2 in both contests at Sonoma, where Anna made her series debut in 2024.
In addition to her one-off appearances in USA West, the younger Cecchi is second place in the same Sprint Challenge North America championship category by four points from the lead.
In the USA West standings, Zach Bradford (ZRB Motorsports) remains on top after two, third-place finishes at Sonoma and spirited battles with the Cecchis.
Of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport Masters drivers, Greg Herback (Tatum Racing) and Justin Lewis (Lewis Racing) split the victories – just as they did at Sonoma in April – to keep their season-long championship battle ongoing.
The pair are separated by 32 points with four rounds remaining.
Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama has a weeks-long hiatus before returning to the racetrack.
The series’ penultimate round of the year takes place at Road America on Aug. 14-16 as part of a joint event with Porsche Sprint Challenge North America and Porsche Endurance Challenge North America by Yokohama.
