The proposed track layout for next month’s SRO Motorsports America season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been revealed.

Issued to teams on Thursday, the 12-turn layout is poised to utilize portions of the speedway’s front stretch, infield road course and apron for the first professional sports car race at the facility in nearly 20 years.

The layout remains provisional as it is subject to final FIA approval, which according to SRO America President and CEO Greg Gill, will be undertaken during the week of the race.

Gill likened the homologation process to that of street circuits, which typically only receive final approval a day or two before track activity.

Sportscar365 understands several layouts had been under consideration, including one that would have utilized a large portion of the speedway’s 12-20-degree progressive banking, which was retrofitted to the facility in 2006.

An alternative layout is understood to have been proposed following a test with several GT3 and GT4 cars in August.

The Oct. 18-20 event will be the first major sports car race took place at the speedway since the American Le Mans Series event in 2000, which also featured World Challenge as a support race.

Michael Galati and Hugh Plumb scored wins in the World Challenge GT and TC classes, respectively, that year.
