The Total 24 Hours of Spa will be held under red flag conditions for the next three hours, until 11:30 a.m. local time, amid poor weather conditions.

Round three of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli had already been neutralized for two hours, 17 minutes when an update was issued following a team managers’ meeting.

Heavy rain has been persistently falling overnight at Spa, creating tough driving conditions around the 7km Belgian circuit.

The decision to extend the red flag until just before midday means the race will have been stopped for almost six hours, while the last green flag running ended at 4:37 a.m.

A further decision will be made at 11:30 to evaluate the situation, while it’s understood that a restart is not likely until 12:30 p.m.

It means that around four hours of green flag time would take place through to the checkered flag at 4:30 p.m.

The top three cars – the No. 63 GRT Grasser Racing Lamborghini, the No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW and the No. 54 Dinamic Motorsport Porsche – have not yet made a mandatory five-minute technical pit stop.

The highest-place car to have completed its technical service is the No. 72 SMP Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 in fourth place, effectively making it the net leader when the higher cars pit.
