The Ginetta G56 GT2 car will make its debut in SRO America competition in this weekend’s pair of GT America powered by AWS races at Sebring International Raceway.
Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson will be at the wheel of the car, entered by Dollahite Racing, as the only GT2 car entered for Rounds 5 and 6 of the season.
Ginetta’s presence has essentially tripled for this weekend, with a second GTP8 entry entered in the Cup class for 5.2 Motorsports driver Corey Deeds, joining David Lecko, who has been a stalwart competitor of the car since the category’s launch in Sonoma.
While the GT4 class will see only a single entry in Flying Lizard Motorsports’ BMW M4 GT4 EVO for Craig Lumsden, there are 14 GT3-spec cars entered in the top SRO3 class.
The entry list features the returning Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R of Mirco Schultis, after missing the last event at Circuit of The Americas, and the continuation of Jon Manship’s program with Wright Motorsports.
Memo Gidley, who remains undefeated so far this season in his SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, holds a 52-point lead over GMG Racing driver Kyle Washington entering the weekend, with HP-TECH Motorsports’ Tony Davis not too far behind in third.
Track action for GT America competitors begins on Friday afternoon, with a second practice and qualifying session set for Saturday morning. Race 1 is set to take the green on Saturday at 3:35 p.m. EST, with Race 2 set for Sunday at 10:10 a.m. EST.
Both 40-minute sprints will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
