GT America powered by AWS will allow selected FIA Silver-rated drivers as part of an expanded two-class format for both the SRO3 and GT4 categories next year.
Confirmed to competitors ahead of this weekend’s season-ending rounds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the new-look class format will feature an Overall category for Bronze drivers, those competing as SRO derogated Bronzes, plus “developing Silver-rated drivers seeking additional race experience and track time” according to a statement from SRO America.
The Bronze Cup class, meanwhile, will be reserved exclusively for traditional Bronze drivers, with no SRO derogations permitted, similar to what’s been regulated in the single class this season.
Additionally, any previous champions will only be eligible to compete in the Overall class.
The expanded class structure will apply only to the SRO3 and GT4 classes, with GT2 and Cup set to remain unchanged, along with the expected continued length of 40-minute races.
SRO America also confirmed that GT America weekends will remain a three-day event format, from Friday-Sunday.
