This weekend’s GT America powered by AWS pair of season-ending rounds at Indianapolis Motors Speedway will feature a significant grid boost compared to recent races, with 18 cars on the provisional entry list.
It is highlighted by a 13-car SRO3 field for GT3 machinery, along with the return of both the GT2 and GT4 classes.
With Justin Rothberg holding a 37-point lead over Kyle Washington of GMG Racing, the Turner Motorsport driver is likely to clinch the SRO3 title in the first 40-minute race of the weekend.
Rothberg and Washington will again take center stage along with third-placed Memo Gidley, who made a mid-season debut in his SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, along with Ross Chouest, who claimed a breakthrough first GT3 win at Road America and backed it up in Race 1 at Barber Motorsports Park.
Despite initially being on the entry list for the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, Jason Bell will again focus his efforts on GT America in the No. 2 Racers Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.
The fan-favorite Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R of Mirco Schultis will return to action this weekend, along with CrowdStrike by Riley’s George Kurtz in his Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, as well as RS1 driver Joel Cortes and Tony Davis of HP-TECH Motorsport, which were both in action at Barber.
Additionally, AF Corse will field a Ferrari 296 GT3 for Rodin Younessi, while Blake McDonald (DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R), Jeff Burton (Regulator Racing Mercedes-AMG) and Kenny Habul (75 Express Mercedes-AMG) are also entered but expected to take part in only the practice sessions in preparation for their Indy 8H bids.
The GT2 class will see the debuting Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo of Evan King along with the returning CJ Moses in his GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT2.
GT4, meanwhile, also returns after several events with no entries, with Craig Lumsden in the No. 610 Flying Lizard BMW M4 GT4 EVO, Jozef Petkes in RCX Motorsport’s Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and Archangel Motorsports team owner Mike Johnson getting back behind the wheel for the first time in 20 years, at the wheel of a ProSport Competition Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
Track action gets underway with a test session on Wednesday afternoon, with two practice sessions on tap for Thursday, qualifying and Race 1 on Friday and Race 2 on Sunday. Both races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
