Reigning Fanatec GT2 European Series Pro-Am champion High Class Racing has announced plans to run a Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept this year, becoming the first team to campaign the car full-time.

The Brabham made its debut at last season’s Paul Ricard finale and is now set for its first full-length campaign in the competition run by GT2 creator SRO Motorsports Group.

Former FIA World Endurance Championship competitors Anders Fjordbach and Kevin Weeda will drive the High Class Racing machine.

Fjordbach is a defending GT2 European Series champion after winning the inaugural Pro-Am title alongside Mark Patterson in a High Class-prepared Audi R8 LMS GT2.

The Danish squad ran the BT63 on its GT2 series debut last October when Dennis Andersen shared the wheel with Brabham Automotive sporting director David Brabham.

“I’m so proud to be able to defend the Fanatec GT2 European Series crown this year facing a new challenge alongside Kevin driving the stunning BT63 GT2 Concept,” said Fjordbach.

“I saw the potential of this car after its debut with us last year at Paul Ricard and I really think we can dream big this season. We are ready to fight for top honors in Imola next April.”

Fjordbach and Weeda teamed up in the Asian Le Mans Series last month, sharing an Oreca 07 Gibson with Andersen.

“I am thrilled to be racing with High Class and Brabham to help Anders defend his title in the Fanatec GT2 European Series,” said the American driver.

“After our successful championship run in the LMP2 car in the Asian Le Mans Series it will be a great experience to compete with this BT63 GT2 Concept car on these iconic circuits in Europe.

“I am again privileged and honored to be able to participate with such a fine group of professionals.”

The BT63 GT2 Concept has an aerodynamic package derived from the Brabham BT62 R hypercar, with redesigned elements including the front splitter and diffuser.

Its 5.2-liter, V8 engine produces 600 horsepower, which is the target for GT2 cars.

“We were very satisfied with the debut of the Braham BT63 GT2 Concept last year,” commented Brabham Automotive CEO Dan Marks.

“It definitely showed its potential against some very storied competition and we’re very excited about the first full season for a new Brabham racing car. It’s a significant milestone for Brabham Automotive with the launch of Brabham Automotive Factory Racing.

“We’re also excited to partner with High Class Racing, last year’s European GT2 champions and a seasoned international racing team.”

The GT2 European Series kicks off next weekend at Imola, supporting the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup season-opener.

Other entries include two Audi R8 LMS GT2s for PK Carsport, single Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsports for LP Racing and Ebimotors, and a pair of KTM X-Bow GT2s for True Racing.
