Michael Auriemma will return to RENNtech Motorsports for the Pirelli GT4 America season, teaming up with former NTT IndyCar Series and IMSA driver Matheus Leist as part of a two-car effort for the Florida-based team.

The pairing in the No. 89 Mercedes-AMG GT4 will step up to the Pro-Am class with the addition of Brazilian Leist, who spent two seasons in IndyCar competition.

“Last year I had the pleasure to work with Michael and RENNtech as a driver coach, and this year I’ll be stepping into the driver’s seat once again,” said Leist. “I’m very excited to work with such a great group of people. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I can’t wait for the first race of the season.”

Auriemma returned to action last year after taking a ten-year hiatus fro, racing.

“Now I feel like I’ve got the rust off and I’m ready to take a step forward,” he said. “I’m excited to be back in the RENNtech car with a crew that feels like family and to be moving up to Pro-Am with a super talented co-driver.”

The No. 89 Mercedes-AMG joins the previously announced addition of the OnlyFans-sponsored No. 43 P1 Groupe entry of Alex Vogel, who steps up to GT4 America after a season in GT America.

Vogel will share driving duties with Matt Bell, also in the Pro-Am class.

“After only one podium in 2023, we as a team are fully committed and ready to make the needed investments to bring race wins and championship aspirations back,” said team owner Hartmut Feyhl.

“Having Michael back and pairing him up with a talent like Matheus is a big step in the right direction.”

The GT4 America season kicks off with a pair of 60-minute races at Sonoma Raceway in April.
