Matt Fassnacht and Trent Hindman will each start one of this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America SprintX/East races from pole after going quickest in their respective qualifying sessions on Friday afternoon.

Fassnacht led the way in Qualifying 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to secure Race 1 pole for Murillo Racing, while Hindman’s flying lap in the second session put his Park Place Motorsports entry on pole for Race 2.

Driving the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT4, entered in the East Am class, Fassnacht posted a time of 1:24.525.

He shares the car with Christian Szymczak, who finished second on his qualifying run for the second race.

The reverse was the case for Park Place’s No. 77 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, which will lead the field in Race 2 with Hindman at the wheel, but line up second in Race 1 with Alan Brynjolfsson.

That car runs in East Pro-Am, and therefore scored class pole on both occasions, as did the Murillo Mercedes in East Am.

The national SprintX Pro-Am poles went to Nolasport’s Matt Travis and Jason Hart, whose No. 47 Porsche will start from third overall in Race 1 and fifth in Race 2.

The fourth and final class, SprintX Am, went the way of Jarett Andretti for Race 1 and Matt Keegan for Race 2.

They drive the Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 and Team Panoz Racing Avezzano GT, respectively.

The weekend’s first GT4 SprintX/East race gets underway at 5:30 p.m. EDT this afternoon.
