This weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America SprintX rounds at Sonoma Raceway will feature an increased grid, with multiple additions since SRO America’s return to racing.

A total of 25 cars are on the entry list for this weekend’s triple-header, marking a five-car increase over the season restart at Virginia International Raceway last month.

Motorsport USA has returned to action with a pair of McLaren 570S GT4s while GMG Racing will field an additional two Audi R8 LMS GT4 cars in the 60-minute two-driver races as part of an eight-car overall effort for the California-based squad this weekend.

Nolasport will enter a third Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport for David and Russel Walker while Dexter Racing is also back in SRO America competition with its Ginetta G55 GT4 for Ryan Dexter and former NASCAR driver Cody Ware.

GT4 SprintX will again feature three races this weekend, with Sunday’s event serving as the make-up round for the Race 1 at Lime Rock Park, which was canceled due to COVID-19.

A total of 11 cars, meanwhile, are entered for the three GT4 Sprint races at Sonoma.

While down on entires since VIR, the list features all core full-season teams including the likes of TRG, Andretti Autosport and Blackdog Speed Shop, which will again be without team owner Tony Gaples this weekend.

Among the teams electing not to make the trip to Sonoma include PF Racing, JCR Motorsports, BGB Motorsports and CG Racing.

The third GT4 Sprint race of the weekend will be the make up for the second St. Pete round that was initially scheduled for March.

Track action for GT4 America teams kicks off on Wednesday with testing opportunities on the 12-turn Northern California road course.
