Iron Lynx Ferrari driver Antonio Fuoco set the fastest lap of Free Practice for Sunday’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup opener at Monza.

The Italian set a time of 1:46.674 on lap three of the 90-minute Saturday morning session which stood as the overall best for the remaining time.

Fuoco’s effort behind the wheel of the No. 71 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 that he shares with Davide Rigon and FIA Formula 2 runner-up Callum Ilott ended up being almost half a second faster than any other entry.

Second-quickest was Nelson Panciatici in CMR’s Pro-Am Bentley Continental GT3 on a time of 1:47.142.

Panciatici was closely followed by Albert Costa in the No. 163 Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo and Philip Ellis in Winward Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo which paced the Silver Cup category.

Maro Engel completed the top five in Haupt Racing Team’s No. 4 Mercedes-AMG with a time of 1:47.205.

Engel led a train of Pro-class teams from different brands with Team WRT, AKKA-ASP, Orange 1 FFF Racing Team, Dinamic Motorsport, Walkenhorst Motorsport and JOTA all within the top 11 positions.

All of the 43 cars entered into this weekend’s three-hour race turned laps during Free Practice, including the three replacement chassis from HRT, Rinaldi Racing and Kessel Racing that were introduced after separate accidents during paid testing on Thursday.

Free Practice passed without any notable incidents. Next on Saturday’s schedule is Pre-Qualifying practice, starting at 2:05 p.m. local time (8:05 a.m. EST).
