Porsche has increased its stake in the Manthey squad to 67 percent as part of its Sportwagenschmiede ’35’ strategy to increase the “individualization” of its products.

The German manufacturer initially purchased a controlling 51 percent of long-time Porsche operation Manthey in 2013, but has now increased this by a further 16 percent, despite rumors surfacing at the end of 2025 that it was potentially looking to sell.

Instead it describes Manthey as a “trusted Porsche partner” that is “firmly rooted in the motorsport community and with a loyal customer base.”

Porsche CEO Dr Michael Leiters added: “By increasing our stake, we are moving even closer to the brand, which is based near the Nürburgring and extremely successful in customer racing, with the aim of expanding our joint offering.

“We’re thinking of special models in the few off-segment, performance kits and exclusive racetrack experiences.”

Alongside operating Porsche 911 GT3 R Evos in categories such as the FIA World Endurance Championship and DTM, Manthey also has a specialist tuning department that develops high-performance kits for the manufacturer’s road cars, such as the 911 and Cayman, with nine such products released since 2020.

“Mutual trust has been the foundation of our successful collaboration for a long time,” said Nicolas Raeder, joint managing director of Manthey Racing GmbH.

“Over the past 13 years, we have realized numerous great projects together.

“We see the increase in the shareholding as a personal mark of appreciation. We look forward to further deepening our collaboration and supporting Porsche’s strategy ‘Sportwagenschmiede ’35’”.

His fellow joint managing director, his brother Martin Raeder, added: “We are heading into the future in a stronger position with the new shareholding. It is the next step in our partnership.

“By working even more closely together, Porsche and Manthey will be able to utilize existing synergies and potential in an even more targeted manner and further strengthen the bridge between motorsport and production vehicles.”

Porsche’s decision to acquire a greater stake in Manthey forms part of the ‘Home of Sports Cars’ initiative that it has launched.

This will focus on three particular areas: performance (including Manthey), exclusiveness and heritage.

It describes the individualization offering as being at the “pinnacle” of this strategy.

Porsche added that a “preview” of its future partnership will be revealed at this weekend’s DTM season finale at Hockenheim — in which Manthey driver Thomas Preining is firmly in title contention — with two special models being presented to mark Manthey’s 30th anniversary.
