Iron Lynx will run a car in this weekend’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo Grand Finals at Portimao with an entry for Iron Dames drivers Doriane Pin and Michelle Gatting.
The Italian team, which has an extensive Ferrari program incorporating the Iron Dames female driver initiative, is returning to Lamborghini’s single-make platform for the first time since 2018.
Pin and Gatting will share the No. 83 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 in the Pro class.
Their weekend consists of two 50-minute Super Trofeo Europe races and two Grand Finals races of the same length against entries from both Europe and North America.
Pin won this year’s Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe title, following on from Gatting’s success in the same championship last year.
Gatting has driven full-time for Iron Dames in the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup this season, and has shared Ferraris with Pin on several occasions.
The pair formed part of the Gold Cup class-winning lineup at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa and also won the ELMS season finale at Portimao with Sarah Bovy.
“The goal for the Iron Dames Project has always been to provide more opportunities for women in motorsport and raise the profile of their participation,” said project founder Deborah Mayer.
“We have an exceptional line-up with Doriane and Michelle who are both champions in their own right.
“I am very proud that the Iron Dames will take part in this prestigious race, and I wish them every success this weekend.”
Iron Lynx’s involvement in the Lamborghini Grand Finals is set to have a wider significance, with the team stating that it will make a “further announcement” in the coming days regarding the “next step in the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames journey”.
Lamborghini is introducing an updated version of its Huracan GT3 car next year and is also working with Ligier Automotive to develop an LMDh prototype for 2024.
