Super Trofeo Europe Heads to Imola for Lamborghini Arena

A month after the opening round of the year, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship roars back into action this weekend at Imola for the second double-header of the 2026 season.

More 30 cars are set to tackle the venue which will also play host to the second edition of Lamborghini Arena.

Following the season opener at Paul Ricard in April, the series reserved for the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 returns to the Santerno circuit for the fourth time, and first since 2024, for a pair of 50-minute races.

The weekend will also mark the first official outing of the next generation Temerario Super Trofeo car, which will debut next year.

The 2026 edition follows the success of the inaugural Lamborghini Arena which, in 2024, welcomed over 6,000 participants; around 380 cars on display; and a parade of more than 350 Lamborghinis that took to the Imola circuit, delivering a truly unique spectacle for all involved.

The event is designed for Lamborghini super sports car owners, who will be able to take part with their own cars, as well as for all enthusiasts wishing to immerse themselves in the world of the Sant’Agata Bolognese marque for two full days.

In the Pro class, DL Racing’s Kevin Gilardoni and Simone Iaquinta lead the standings by one point from Rexal Villorba Corse’s Benedetto Strignano and Nicholas Pujatti.

Both crews claimed a victory and second place each in France, with Iaquinta’s race two pole position giving the DL Racing pairing the slight edge coming into the Imola weekend.

Close behind, ten points adrift in third place, is the all-Finnish partnership of Matias Salonen and Henri Tuomaala (Leipert Motorsport), with Patrik Fraboni and Silas Lovén Rytter (Oregon Team) also sure to be in the mix.

Keen to make an impact at Imola will be Swedish drivers Axel Bengtsson and Månz Thalin (Leipert Motorsport) while Nathanaël Berreby and Hugo Giraud (Rexal Villorba Corse) and Rogério Grotta and Alfio Andrea Spina (Oregon Team) will also be aiming to bounce back after a difficult opener at Paul Ricard.

New to the grid this weekend is experienced racer Euan Hankey joining Fin Green in an all-British line-up at VSR.

With two wins out of two at Le Castellet, Bronislav Formánek and Anthony Pretorius (Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra) lead the way in the Pro-Am class, seven points ahead of the Oregon Team duo of Pietro Perolini and Josef Knopp.

Marzio Moretti and Paolo Biglieri (ASR) are third in the standings after a pair of third place finishes in France. VSR’s Paul Levet and Miguel Cristóvão are four points further back, and four points clear of Miloš Pavlović and Alessio Ruffini (ASR).

Jonathan Cecotto and Sergei Astafjev (Invictus Corse) lie sixth in the standings, a point ahead of Niels Ulrich Nybø, who moves to the Am class alongside newcomer Ulrich Larsen.

A number of series returnees are expected to grace the Am category field this weekend, with 2025 Lamborghini Cup champion Karim Ojjeh set to make his first start of the season, with Rexal Villorba Corse.

Father and son pairing Andrzej and Adrian Lewandowski will team up again at GT3 Poland, while Laurent Jenny and Cedric Leimer make their comeback aboard the Autovitesse entry.

Finally, series veteran Raffaele Giannoni bolsters an improved Am grid with Automobile Tricolore. Leading the standings heading into the second round is GT3 Poland’s Grzegorz Moczulski after a win and a second in Paul Ricard.

Jakub Knoll and Renaud Kuppens are second, just four points behind, while CMR’s Stéphane Lemeret and Rodrigue Gillion lie third after winning race two in France.

Having won on their Super Trofeo debut, Peder Demant Møller and Nina Østergaard (DC Motorsport) are just three points behind. Behind, two points separate three crews: Francesco Turzo (DL Racing) claimed a pair of fourths in France and heads race two winners Donovan and Luciano Privitelio (Rexal Villorba Corse) and Adalberto Baptista (Oregon Team).

Track action kicks off on Saturday with two Free Practice sessions and qualifying, with both 50-minute races set for Sunday, at 9:25 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. CEST, both of which will be streamed live on Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s YouTube channel.
